Spooky's Fab Five for Thursday, October 29

    Happy Thursday everyone.

    1. Quick Hits

The Phillies win game 1 of the World Series beating the Yankees 6 to 1.

Game 2 of the World Series is tonight, Phillies @ Yankees 7:57pm ET FOX Pedro Martinez vs A.J. Burnett.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell refused to acknowledge to Congress that there's a link between playing in the NFL and developing brain diseases later in life.

Goodbye waiting lists. Step right up and buy your Jets tickets. Anyone can buy them for the new stadium. And the most expensive priced tickets are being slashed. I guess demand didn't quite meet supply. (And I wasn't an economics major in college.)

New season, same Knicks. They drop their opener in Miami 115-93.

    2. Game 1

Was that Cliff Lee or Sandy Koufax on the mound for the Phillies last night? He was dominant as big names CC Sabathia, Mark Teixeira, and A-Rod all came up empty in their World Series debuts. (Of course Derek Jeter had three hits.) And now the franchise pins its hopes on AJ Burnett in game 2. He has never appeared in a World Series either.

By the way, I guess the umps got the message. They finally huddled to sort out a Phillies doubleplay. This came after an awful strike call against Robinson Cano. But hey, it wouldn't be postseason baseball without the umps getting noticed.

    3. Legalese

A Pennsylvania woman put an ad on Craigslist looking for World Series tickets. "Diehard Phillies fan--gorgeous tall buxom blond--in desperate need of two World Series Tickets. Price negotiable--- I'm the creative type! Maybe we can help each other!" Her lawyer claims her offer to do "anything for tickets" is a colloquial phrase and doesn't represent criminal activity. The lawyer didn't address the fact she offered sex to an undercover cop in return for tickets. It turns out a Philly car dealer with the help of a radio station is giving her tickets to game 3..... without any quid pro quo.

    4. High Expectorations

Some high level soccer players in England have come down with the swine flu and now doctors are urging the soccer guys to stop spitting during games. It could spread the disease. A spokesman for the Health Protection Agency said "Footballers, like the rest of us, wouldn't spit indoors, so they shouldn't do it on the football pitch." They also warn, if kids see the soccer players spit, they'll do it too. Gives new meaning to "spitting image."

    5. Commercial Tie-ins

Nice job by Hebrew National Hot Dogs. After Mark Sanchez of the Jets scarfed down a dog during the Raiders game, Hebrew National is offering a free pack of hot dogs to anyone with a ticket stub from that game. Fans attending this weeks Jets game in the Meadowlands are hoping Sanchez drives a Mercedes on the sideline during the game.

Happy Birthday: "Potvin Sucks." The New York Islander who gave birth to the infamous Madison Square Garden chant which still lives today, Denis Potvin. 56.

Bonus Birthday: Charlie's Angel Kate Jackson. 61.

Today in Sports: Cassius Clay's 1st pro fight. He beats Tunney Hunsaker in a 6 round decision. 1960.

Bonus Event: Black Tuesday. The New York stock market crashes triggering the Great Depression. 1929.

Yeah I am going crazy this week with the plays coming off a couple monster weeks.

Still love the Phillies in the series and like them again tonight but not much sense to double down with a series wager riding at nice odds.

Should be a low scoring game, but still see PHILLIES scoring 1st in the game for an interesting prop. Two big wagers on the Series tonight.

So lets throw out the CFB game to go along with a huge rooting interest in the Phillies game tonight.

    Six-pack for Friday

-- Last time Phillies played Bronx in World Series, in 1950, it ended October 7; baseball playoffs started on October 7 this season.

-- Mets fans I know are divided about who they're rooting for in the World Series. The more sensible ones are rooting for the Phillies.

-- Earlier this week. tickets for Viking-Packer game at Lambeau Field were going for as much as $1,400 a pop. Favre-nomics, I guess.

-- Georgia Tech won its last three games, scoring 37 ppg; the combined passing stats for Tech in those three games: 9-23/267 yards.

-- Favorite is 6-0 vs spread in Louisiana Tech's '09 football games.

-- Have NBA package for free until Tuesday; forgot how much I like watching Warrior home games and seeing Steve Nash playing for the Suns. Will I buy the NBA package? That's a question for next week.

Friday's Dirty Dozen: Things I'm looking for this weekend.....

    12) Texas is away from Austin for third Saturday in a row. Oklahoma State is a dangerous underdog in Stillwater Saturday night.

    11) Can Temple win its sixth game in row and become bowl eligible? Can Duke win its third ACC game in a row? Can Idaho get win #7?

    10) 6-2 Idaho is favored for second time in nine games over Louisiana Tech team; favorite is 6-0 vs spread in Tech's games this season.

    9) Georgia's schedule was stupid-hard this year; will they give Florida a tough game after finally getting a bye? Gators waxed them 49-10 LY.

    8) Central Michigan-Boston College will be a good game. Chippewas are no stiffs. Eagles play better at home, but went all out last week in a tight loss at Notre Dame, could let down here.

    7) Oregon won its last six games, USC its last four. Trojans are on road for third time in last four weeks. Winner here probably wins Pac-10. Fight On!

    6) In the NFL, how will the 0-6 Titans play coming off a bye after their 59-0 beatdown in Foxboro? Vince Young is starting at QB, making this game even more interesting. And they are the favorites.

    5) You have to have a lot of onions to lay points with 0-6 Titans or 1-5 Detroit this week. Lions' offensive coordinator is Scott Linehan, who was run out of St Louis after a horrendous stint as the Rams' coach.

    4) 13 NFL games this week; seven games have spreads of less than four points, the other six games have spreads of nine or more points. Odd slate of games this week, some good rivalries being renewed.

    3) 3-3 Ravens are favored over 6-0 Denver, with both teams coming off byes; Broncos had it going so well, not sure they needed a bye, while Ravens lost three in a row before the bye-- they definitely needed it.

    2) Brett Favre returns to Lambeau Field Sunday as the enemy; how will the natives react? People in the midwest are normally polite. Normally. There isn't a lot about this game that is normal.

    1) How many people in Philly Sunday will go to both Giant-Eagle game in afternoon and the World Series at night?
I know of quite a few.

NFL Write-up for Week 8 NFL games

    Sunday, November 1
Broncos (6-0) @ Ravens (3-3)-- Unbeaten Denver didn't need bye after its 6-0 start, winning road games at Cincy/Oakland/San Diego. Broncos outscored its foes 67-3 in second half of last five games- they've been underdog in four of first six games. Baltimore allowed 142/167 rush yards in last two games, after allowing 59.5 ypg in first four games- they lost last three games after 3-0 start. Both teams had bye last week; Ravens are 6-1 in the game after last seven byes (4-0 vs spread as favorite), Broncos are 15-4 off bye (4-0 as dog). Ravens lost last three games by total of 11 points. Five of six Denver games stayed under the total. Ravens are 0-2 when they score less than 31 points.

Browns (1-6) @ Bears (3-3)-- Only once in six games have Bears won by more than six points; they're 0-2 since bye, scoring total of 24 points, were down by 28 at half last week in Cincinnati, so no bargain laying 13 with them. Five of six Brown losses are by 14+ points; they're 2-2 as road dog, completing only 23 of 72 passes (31.9%) in last three games. Look for Bears to try and run ball; they've been held under 90 rushing yards in every game but one; Browns have given up average of 171.1 rushing yards/game this season. Three of last four Chicago games went over the total. NFC North home favorites are 0-3 in non-division games; AFC North road dogs are 4-2.

Texans (4-3) @ Bills (3-4)-- Buffalo won last two games after 1-4 start-- their defense allowed just two TDs on foes' last 40 drives since 38-10 loss at Miami in Week 4. Bills led 7-2 at half last week despite being outgained 228-39 by the Panthers. Explosive Houston passing game is hurt by Johnson's bruised lung; they've thrown for 7.4+ ypa in each of last six games. Bills went 3/out on 26 of last 62 drives; they need to improve that, or Houston will win field position for seventh game in a row. Four of last five Buffalo games stayed under total. AFC East underdogs are 2-6 vs spread in non-division games, 0-3 at home; AFC South favorites are 4-3, 2-0 on the road.

Vikings (6-1) @ Packers (4-2)-- Favre returns to Lambeau with Viking squad that beat Green Bay 30-23 four weeks ago (-3.5); Vikes averaged 8.4 ypp that night, converted 8-14 on 3rd down, and sacked Rodgers eight times. Green Bay hasn't allowed TD in two games since then, outrushing opponents 309-136; its foes were just 2-22 on 3rd down (25-57, 43.9% in first four games). Vikings started nine drives in enemy territory the first four games, but haven't started one there in last three games. This is bigger game for Packers than for Vikings, in more ways than one. Favorites are 4-0 vs spread in NFC North divisional games this year. Four of last five Minnesota games went over the total.

49ers (3-3) @ Colts (6-0)-- After winning first two games by 2-4 points, Indy won last four games by 17+ points each, scoring 17 TDs on 40 drives, trying only six FGs, with seven 3/outs- their last two games were vs winless teams, so step up in competition here by Niner squad that gave up 10.3/7.7 ypp in last two games. SF is 2-0-1 as road dog this year; they allowed 16 points or less in all three wins, 27-45-24 in its losses. Change to Smith at QB sparked a comeback in Houston last week; 49ers trailed 21-0 at half, lost 24-21. Three of last four 49er games went over the total. NFC West road underdogs are 5-1 vs spread in non-division games. AFC South home favorites are 2-3.

Dolphins (2-4) @ Jets (4-3)-- Hard to gauge Dolphins' state of mind after its 46-34 home loss to Saints, a game Fish led 24-3 in second quarter. Miami lost both its road games (19-7 Atlanta/23-13 San Diego)- they scored in last :10 to nip Jets 31-27 (+2) in first meeting at home three weeks ago; Fish scored 21 second half points, outrushed Jets by 151-138 margin. Jets allowed total of 33 points in four wins, 24-31-16 in their losses. Dolphins scored 38-31-34 points in last three games, all of which went over total, after scoring 14.3 ppg in first three games. Underdog is 5-0 vs spread in AFC East divisional games. Jets are first team since 1975 to run ball for 300+ yards in consecutive games.

Rams (0-7) @ Lions (1-5)-- Big game for both sides, a rare legitimate chance to win; Detroit is favored for first time since 2008 opener in Atlanta; they're 1-2 at home, beating Redskins 19-14, losing to Vikings (27-13), Steelers (28-20), but Stafford not likely to go here. Rams have five losses by 19+ points; both their close losses (9-7 Redskins/23-20 Jags) were on road. St Louis has been outscored 117-23 in second half of games- four of their last five went over the total, despite Rams having just one TD in their last eight trips to the red zone. NFC West road underdogs are 5-1 vs the spread in non-divisional games. NFC North home favorites are 0-3 against the spread. .

Seahawks (2-4) @ Cowboys (4-2)-- Seattle lost four of last five games; they are 0-2 on road (23-10 at SF/34-17 at Indy) and gained just 128 yards in last game, an awful 27-3 home loss to Arizona that saw Seahawk OL get crushed. Dallas won three of last four games, with WR Austin leading NFL in passing yardage his last two games- they won last two home games by 14-16 points. Seattle is 2-8 SU, 1-9 vs spread in game following its last ten byes- three of its four losses this year are by 13+ points. Seahawks converted 12 of last 40 3rd down plays, Dallas 11 of last 25. NFC West road dogs are 5-1 vs spread in non-division games; NFC East home favorites are 5-4.

Raiders (2-5) @ Chargers (3-3)-- Oakland (+7) lost opener 24-20 at San Diego, outrushing Bolts 148-77; difference was in red zone, where Raiders scored 13 points on three drives- Chargers had 21 on four. Since then, Raiders scored an average of 7.0 ppg in six games, scoring three TDs on 67 drives. Jets ran ball for 316 yards last week, bad news vs LT/Sproles combo. Raiders lost last five visits here by average score of 32-12 (1-4 vs spread). San Diego scored 23 or more points in every game this year; their three wins are by 4-10-30 points, with Bolts 2-3 vs spread as a favorite. Over is 3-1-1 in the last five Oakland games. Home side is 1-4 vs spread in AFC West division games this season.

Jaguars (3-3) @ Titans (0-6)-- Winless Tennessee lost last game 59-0, trailed 45-0 at half and they're favored over Jax squad that beat Titans 37-17 back in Week 4, outrushing Titans 137-95. Tennessee lost last three games by total of 127-26 after losing first three 71-58. Will they give Young playing time to see if can be QB of their future? Jaguars scored 31-37-23 points in wins, 12-17-0 in losses; they're 22-40 (55%) on 3rd down in their wins, 14-44 (32%) in their losses, so key for Garrard to move chains. Four of last five Titan games went over the total. Home teams are 1-4 vs spread in AFC South divisional games, 0-3 if favored. Tennessee is minus-11 in turnovers in its last five games.

Panthers (2-4) @ Cardinals (4-2)-- Arizona won last three games, scoring 26.3 ppg, since bye that followed 1-2 start- both their losses are at home, and they blew 21-0 halftime lead in only home win. Cardinals beat Carolina in playoffs last winter, ending four-game series skid, now gets reeling Panther squad that scored 10 or less points in three of its four losses. Carolina is putrid -14 so far in turnovers, throwing 14 INTs while picking off three enemy passes. Under is 4-0 in Arizona's last four games. NFC South underdogs are 2-9 vs spread out of their division, 2-5 on road. NFC West home favorites are 2-2.In their last couple games, Redbirds allowed two TDs on 25 opposition drives.

Giants (5-2) @ Eagles (4-2)-- Health of Westbrook (concussion) key for Philly team that hasn't allowed McNabb to be sacked in last three games vs a Giants team that allowed 72 points in last two games after giving up average of 14.2 in first five contests. Visitor won seven of last ten series games, with Giants 4-0 in last four visits here, with all four games decided by five or less points, or in OT. Underdog covered last six series games. Philly scored 27+ points in all of its wins, 22-9 in losses- they averaged 4.2/4.8 ypp in last two games, not good Monday night's win was physical rivalry game, even though Eagles won fairly easily on scoreboard. Home team is 0-3 vs spread in NFC East division games.

    Monday, November 2
Falcons (4-2) @ Saints (6-0)-- Home team won seven of last nine series games, with Atlanta losing last four visits to Superdome by 13-20-6-4 points, in what is NFL's most underrated rivalry. Saints have yet to win by less than a dozen points, scoring 36 second half points to blow past Miami 46-34 in game they trailed 24-3 in 2nd quarter. NO scored 11 TDs on 29 drives in last two tilts, getting 11 TDs, one FG in last 12 red zone drives. Falcons are 1-2 away from home, with both losses by 16 points (NE/Dallas); they scored 12 TDs on last 34 drives, with only one FG attempt- Dallas sacked Ryan four times, after he hadn't been sacked in his last four games. Four of six Saint games went over.

    College Football Write-up

    Friday Game

Teams split last four series games even though West Virginia was ranked in three of them; dog covering last three. South Florida lost last couple of games, allowing 34-41 points- they've converted just 14 of 54 on third down in Daniels' four starts, allowed 189-214 rushing yards the last two games. Bulls are 8-4 vs spread as Big East home dog. Mountaineers won last four games, scoring 30.3 ppg; favorite covered both their road games. Big East home underdogs are 0-5 against the spread so far this year. Last three USF games went over the total.

    Saturday's games
    Top games

Central Michigan won last seven games; its only loss was 16-3 in opener at improved Arizona (+13.5). Boston College is 4-0 vs spread at home, winning lined games by 27-3-7-32 points. Four of Eagles' last five games went over total. Chippewas are 6-1 vs spread this season- they ran ball for average of 273 ypg last four tilts. MAC road dogs are 14-8 vs spread in non-conference games; ACC home favorites are 6-6 outside the ACC.

Duke won its last two games, passing ball for 70-93/833 yards; they've got underrated QB in senior Lewis, who threw for 359 yards at Virginia Tech in surprisingly close 34-26 loss. Blue Devils snapped 8-game skid vs Cavaliers LY, routing Virginia 31-3; they've lost last four games here, all by 11+ points. Cavs had three-game win streak snapped 34-9 a week ago by Ga Tech; they've converted just six of last 27 on third down.

Miami is 3-0 vs Wake Forest, winning the games by combined score of 115-34, but LY's game was 16-10; 'canes won three of last four games but have been minus in turnovers in four of last five. Wake Forest scored total of 13 points in losing last two games, allowing 533 rushing yards; they've covered eight of last ten games as a home dog. Wake won four in a row at home, scoring 32.8 ppg. Last three Miami games stayed under.

NC State's defense has fallen apart, allowing 40.5 ppg in last last games; they gave up 101 to Duke/BC in their last two, now run into Florida St. squad that rallied from 24-6 deficit to win last game, ending a three-game skid. Underdog covered seven of last eight series games, and is 6-0 vs the spread in Seminole games this season. Last four Wolfpack games went over total. Former NC State coach Amato is on FSU staff.

Iowa State was an amazing +8 in turnovers last week, still won just 9-7 at Nebraska; Cyclones were without starting QB/TB, but Tiller is pretty strong backup QB. ISU is 5-3, with only one loss by more than 5 points; they're 2-0 as road dog this season. Texas A&M ended three-game skid with 52-30 upset win in Lubbock last week, but Aggies still allowed 36-62-30 points last three games. Big 12 home favorites are 5-6 vs spread.

Auburn won seven of last nine games vs Ole Miss, winning last two at this site, 17-3/27-3, but Tigers lost last three games by 21-7-21 points, as Auburn passed for just 103 ypg, after averaging 259.2 in first five of season. Ole Miss scored 10-3 in its two losses; they scored 48-30 in its last two games; they're 4-1 vs spread as fave this year, but covered just two of last seven as road favorite. SEC home dogs are 4-6 this year.

Florida's offensive line is banged up, their offense is struggling, scoring 21.7 ppg last three games; Gators won nine of last 11 series games- last year, they crushed Dawgs 49-10. Favorites are 7-3 vs spread in last ten series games. Georgia had much-needed week off last week; they're 1-3 in '09 when scoring less than 34 points. Favorites are 11-17 vs spread in SEC games this season. Last five Florida games stayed under total.

Temple won its last five games, is bowl eligible with next win; credit to coach Golden for this fix-it job; Owls lost last four games vs Navy, with Middies scoring 35.8 ppg. Navy beat Wake Forest last week with a new QB who didn't try one pass; they've also won five straight games, with three of last four wins by exactly three points. Navy is 3-2-1 as favorite this year. MAC road underdogs are 14-8 vs spread out of conference.

Favorite won, covered last four Cal-Arizona State games; Bears won two of last three visits to Tempe. Cal was held to 3 points in both its losses, they scored 35+ in their wins- they've won road games 45-26 at UCLA, 35-21 at Minnesota (lost at Oregon). Spooky's Fab Five for Halloween Weekend, Friday, October 30

    TGIF everyone

    1. Quick Hits

The Yankees win game 2, 3-1 and even the World Series at 1 game apiece.

Today is an off day. The World Series resumes tomorrow night in Philadelphia. 7:57pm ET FOX

Martina Navratilova takes Andre Agassi to task and equates him with Roger Clemens for lying about drug use.

FOX will use a "Favre-cam" to follow Brett Favre's every move in his return to Green Bay on Sunday. Not to be outdone, CBS will employ a "barf-cam" to check out what Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez is eating on the sidelines.

    2. Game 2

So what are Yankee fans focusing on today? A.J. Burnett's game winning pitching performance or A-Rod? Human nature being what it is, Yankee fans know that A-Rod has struck out 3 times in each World Series game, but they couldn't tell you how many strikeouts A.J. Burnett recorded last night. (9) Before the game, Commissioner Bud Selig said he's not in favor of expanding instant replay. And then his umps went out and blew another call. But the biggest headline is that the World Series will go at least 5 games. It hasn't gone 6 in 6 years. Could this be the year for a real "Fall Classic?"

    3. Sportsmanship

A big controversy in France. A mostly Muslim soccer team refused to play a team that welcomes gay soccer players. Of course we know about Iranian athletes who wouldn't compete against Jews. So I guess we gotta change all those baseball cards to include religion and sexual persuasion. Or maybe we just gotta ban the bigots.

    4. Soupy Story

Here is a great Soupy Sales rememberance.

Soupy writes the letter 'F' on a chalkboard. He asks White Fang what letter it is? Fang answers 'K'. After three Fang replies that it's 'K', Soupy gives up & asks Fang, 'Why is it every time I write F you see 'K'?"

    5. The Devil is in the Details

An animal rights group has forced a town in New Zealand to cancel its annual dead rabbit-throwing contest. They complained it sent the wrong message to kids. The contest is held each year to coincide with the annual pig hunt. Hey killing defenseless animals is fine and dandy. Just don't go tossing 'em around.

Happy Birthday: Super Bowl champion coach Dick Vermeil (Rams). 73.

Bonus Birthday: "The Fonz," Henry Winkler. 64.

Today in Sports: A perfect strike. President George W. Bush throws out the first pitch before game 3 of the World Series, less than 2 months after 9/11. 2001.

Bonus Event: "Martians land in New Jersey!" Orson Welles presents "The War of the Worlds" on radio. Thousands thought it was a true story. 1938.

Spooky's helpful tips for Halloween, October 31st

    Toothless Lions

The play of Detroit quarterback Matt Stafford and receiver Calvin Johnson are huge reasons the Lions are greatly improved from a year ago. But Johnson missed the team’s most recent game and Stafford the past two, as both are game-time decisions for a tussle against the visiting Rams. Detroit, with only one win, is listed at -4 with a total of 43.5.

    Pike fishing

Cincinnati again expects to be without injured quarterback Tony Pike at Syracuse this weekend. The Bearcats are planning for backup Zach Collaros to again start in his place. Last week against Louisville, the sophomore threw three touchdowns and only two incompletions in his first-career start, a 41-10 win over the Cardinals. The Bearcats are listed at -15 with a total of 53.

    No win situation

Vikings cornerback Antoine Winfield is expected to miss this week’s game against rival Green Bay due to a nagging foot injury. Karl Paymah, Asher Allen and Benny Sapp played well in his place against Pittsburgh last week, but the Pro Bowler will be missed against the Packer’s pass-happy attack. In a 30-23 win over Green Bay earlier this year, Winfield had a season-high 10 tackles and snared his lone interception of the season. The Vikings are listed at +3 with a total of 47.

    Bobcat beat down

The Cleveland Cavaliers would like to get the bad taste of a slow start out of their mouths. The answer? Welcome the Charlotte Bobcats to down. Charlotte, which was destroyed 92-59 by Boston, is beat up and is missing guard Raja Bell. Meanwhile, the Cavaliers are 4-0 ATS against the Bobcats in their past four meetings, and figure to have plenty of ammunition to clobber Charlotte. Cleveland is listed at -13 with a total of 183.5.

    Hold the scoring

Dallas touts its roster among the deepest in the league, featuring Dirk Nowitzki, Shawn Marion and Jason Kidd. But the group needs more time to gel, especially without Josh Howard. The team already failed to push the score past the total once this year and don’t expect this unit to magically click anytime soon. The team the Mavericks visit Saturday night, the Clippers, also have embraced a more methodical approach on offense and have an over/under mark of 0-2 this season. Los Angeles is listed at +4 with a total of 199.

    Wizards out of magic

Washington started out of the gates hot on opening night, beating the Mavericks in Dallas. The team got 29 points from start Gilbert Arenas and then played at Atlanta on Friday night. Arenas, nursing a surgically repaired leg, will play heavy minutes and be counted on in the second of back-to-back games against the Nets. He also must shoulder some of the scoring burden for the injured Antwan Jamison. We know Arenas can play on rest. But be careful with him on a short turnaround against New Jersey. Washington is listed at -7.5 with a total of 198.

    Cold wings

Detroit is already without stud center Johan Franzen and got more bad news after a 6-5 loss in Edmonton Thursday night. Center Valtteri Filppula will miss the next 6 to 8 weeks with a broken wrist. Filppula has two goals and four assists through 11 games, but had notched five points in his past seven outings. It’s also a huge blow for the Wings, since he was centering a line with newcomer Todd Bertuzzi and Dan Cleary, with the group finally starting to show signs of gelling. Now, Detroit must shuffle its lines again. The Red Wings, who play at Calgary on Saturday night, are listed at +123 with an over/under of 6 goals.

    Shining Star

Dallas is off to a hot start thanks to the stellar play of forward Brad Richards. The former Tampa Bay star has five goals and 10 assists in just 10 games, including five points on the power play. And he is the last person Nashville wants to see on Saturday night. In two games against the Predators this season, Richards has a goal and three assists and is plus-2. Dallas is listed at +106 with a total of 5.5 goals.

Saturday's List of 13: In a perfect world, where I decide everything

    13) Everyone would get to visit Las Vegas once; it doesn't matter if you like to gamble or not; there's so much to see there, its so unique, hard to believe the great majority of people wouldn't like to visit there.

    12) All pro sports leagues would have a salary cap and a salary floor.

    11) The drinking age would go back to 18; you're old enough to fight in a war, you're damn sure old enough to drink.

    10) There would be no age limit in the NBA. Instead, pro teams could draft kids out of high school and if they didn't think they were ready to play pro ball, the kid would go to college, with the pro team paying for the kid's tuition. Every summer, the team has to decide whether the kid is going back to college or moving up. Once you move up, that’s it.

    9) Basketball Hall of Fame would induct Jerry Tarkanian while he's alive to enjoy it. Word in Vegas was that Tark's health is slipping.

    8) Nurses that work in hospitals would get paid more. They have such a tremendous responsibility, they deserve more money.

    7) If it was up to me, I'd legalize Internet poker and sports wagering.

    6) The Electoral College would be eliminated. Whoever gets most votes is the President. How difficult could this be to figure out?

    5) School summer vacation would be shorter, winter vacation would be longer. Would save lot of money on heat in the colder areas.

    4) High school should do more to teach things that are practical in real life; less kids should take trigonometry, more should know how to write a check, change their oil, cook, read stock market reports.

    3) Steak 'n Shake would find its way to Millstone Twp. Quickly.

    2) Dr Brown's cream soda would be sold everywhere. Its tremendous.

    1) The NBA would allow any type of defense, thereby making it a real basketball league. NBA ball is a hybrid of real basketball and street ball, where stars are treated better than everyone else. That's not good.
