Arsenal forward Robin van Persie has hinted he wants to stay at the club, despite his failure to agree to a new deal. (Daily Mirror)
This headline should be changed to Robin van Persie wants to stay at Arsenal, if the money is right. While van Persie is a good player and teams would be interested, I’m not sold that many top teams would be tripping themselves to sign van Persie away from Arsenal.
Striker Djibril Cisse wants to make his loan deal at Sunderland a permanent switch from Marseille but is unhappy that a decision has yet to be made on his future. (Various)
Sunderland is wise waiting until the end of the year. While doubtful there is a chance Sunderland may still go down. It would be foolish spending 10 million pounds on a player you’d have to turn around and sell a couple of months later.
Chelsea skipper John Terry is ready to forget his pain at missing a penalty in last year’s Champions League final and take a spot-kick if the Blues go to a shoot-out against Juventus this evening. (Various)
Hopefully it doesn’t rain that day.
Blues boss Guus Hiddink is ready to hand midfielder Michael Essien his first start since August for the match against Juve. (Various)
Not sure throwing Essien right into the fire against Juventus would be the smartest decision. Delaying it until the Manchester City game on the weekend would seem to be the right time.
Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez believes his side have not been shown the respect they deserve for their performances in the Champions League. (Various)
I think people do respect Rafael Benitez/Liverpool achievements in Europe. It’s their performances in England which people knock Liverpool over.
