Below are some rumors from British newspapers in bold. My opinions are under it. Feel free to add your own if it interests you.
Must admit the timing of starting this thread here isn't perfect since yesterday was the end of the summer transfer window. Think of it like starting a thread about baseball threads the day after the trading deadline.
Everton manager David Moyes was turned down when he made a cheeky enquiry about taking Newcastle’s former Liverpool striker Michael Owen back to Merseyside. (The Sun)
The order was this transfer session was Everton being turned down left and down. I’ll reserve judgment on the 15 million pound transfer of Marouane Fellaini but my initial opinion was that it’s a last minute panic buy. An expensive one at that.
But the Toffees have agreed a record £12m deal for CSKA Moscow’s Brazilian star Vagner Love - but he will not arrive until January as CSKA have demanded that the forward stays until the end of the Russian season. (Daily Mirror)
Reasoning makes sense. CSKA Moscow already let go of follow Brazilian striker Jo to Manchester City in this transfer window so it’s possible that they seek to hold on to Vagner Love until the end of their season.
Abu Dhabi United Group considered buying Arsenal, Liverpool or Newcastle before choosing Manchester City. (The Sun)
More like Manchester City choose them. Right place at the right time as former owner Thaksin Shinawatra needed the money and needed it A.S.A.P and one thing the Abu Dhabi United Group have in large supply is money.
Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard is battling to be fit for England’s World Cup qualifying match against Andorra on Saturday after injuring a thigh muscle. (The Sun)
You know Lampard is going to do everything possible to be fit for that game. With Steven Gerrard he’ll get to cover his preferred central midfield by himself. This will be Lampard’s best chance to impress England coach Fabio Capello as if it comes down to choose between Lampard and Steven Gerrard odds are Capello would go with Gerrard ahead of Lampard.
Sunderland boss Roy Keane, who has recruited nine players this summer, has admitted the influx of new faces into his club has to stop. (The Telegraph)
Has no other choice now that the transfer window has closed until January.
Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has revealed he wants to manage the Anfield club one day and knock Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson “off his perch”. (Daily Mirror)
Wish him luck with that. It is on Carragher watch as a player that Manchester United have blown by Liverpool in the past ten years.
