First off forgive me for breaking one of my cardinal rules. I hate it when Sport fans say "we" for example "we played great last night." No, you sat on your ass last night, the Lakers, they played great last night. Since I'm Portuguese and I'm talking about Portugal as a whole and not just Porto I figure I could break this rule.

To ramble on this Obama dog, the Portuguese water dog. Is this dog the most famous Portuguese anything in North America? For fuck sakes it just may be. I mean most Portuguse people by background you wouldn't even know...well except for Nelly Furtado but she had to slut it up on her 3rd ablum to save her career. For example Steve Perry lead singer of Journey, real name....Portuguese. Same thing for Joe Perry of Aersmith (only believe we can claim half of him) Even Merdith Vieira from the today show...Portuguese. She was born near Fall River Mass who Jesse Ventura once called the only city in the U.S worse than Vietnam since it's literally all Portuguese. Funny line I must say.

Why is this so? Well I could tell you why? We by and large (with a few exceptions) suck under pressure. I mean just awful, shine a spotlight on us for a few seconds and we tense up under the weight of expectation.

Now turning this back to soccer. See Portuguese clubs make good underdogs, take a Portuguese club lightly and like last week they will make you regret it. This is why we always play well against England on a National level.

With Porto drawing 2-2 last week, Manchester United would be out and out fools to sleep on Porto again but now there is a real sense that Porto can go on to the semi finals of the Champions League now. This is just not going to happen. I'd love to be wrong but going back to such failures as the 1986 World Cup where all we had to do is beat Morocco but didn't. 2002 beat South Korea but didn't. 2004 the worse of them all beat Greece in the European finals but of course didn't. We flat out suck as favorites on any level, esp against the likes of Manchester United.

Again I'd love to be wrong, even If I'm going to bet a decent amount on this game but last week Manchester United took Porto way too lightly, It's doubtful the same mistake will happen again.

Whatever advantage Liverpool does have cause of the pile up in the fixure list for United is given back with the fact they still have to play Arsenal and Chelsea where as United only have Arsenal left to face.

I don't know, Barca's looked real good lately. Messi is destroying teams by himself.

After watching Arvashin tear Liverpool apart today, I'm kinda worried for United.

Well, all this is sad, but after all porto reached way to far from most of the europian teams. Best portogise club in the CL. So i think you should be proud.
P.S. For example in my country (BG) we had team in the CL, just once :D , before 2-3 years. And we failed so hard. Im talking for Levski SF. First match vs Barca was smth like 4,5,6-0, cant remember exactly.
Anyway, wish you luck next season !

Thank you, I can respect how Porto conducted themselves against Manchester United. They give it everything and that is all one could ask for. Enjoyed your input by the way.
