Mizzou has an off week before Nebraska but Pinkel tried to call off the dogs last week and his team still scored a couple times. I don't think Buffalo would be a good bet...I'd leave the game alone, personally.Originally Posted by sdsponger
Quick Question for everyone...This Pinkel calls the dogs off a bit with Nebraska looming next week? Plus, Buffalo plays hard and never quits and I read somewhere that Pinkel has a great amount of respect for coach Gill. To me, all this kinda says play Buffalo +34' or whatever you can get.
Please chime in and share your thoughts

mizzu is REALLY, REALLY good this year, don't trust them laying off the dogs like colmo said, they just keep scoring and scoring. i do believe buffalo will score some points, havent even looked at the o/u but maybe an over bet might be enticing. gill is going to go somewhere bigger soon, he has completely turned around that buffalo program and has their best start at 2-1 in a long time. huge article in lincoln journal star about this is the first play gill ever won when he was a qb at nebraska in 1981. they won 6-0 with td :25 left in game, maybe that is a sign he plays them close, gl whatever you choose!!
I couldn't disagree with you more, cjv. Mizzou should cover, but not because Pinkel wants to run it up. He tries not to do that. Mizzou is so good this year that they will likely cover even without trying to run it up. That was my point to Damon. Pinkel is not like Osborn at Nebraska or Switzer at Oklahoma, or Spurrier, all of whom acted like bullies against lesser opponents! :lol:Originally Posted by cjv_11
I agree with Colmo about staying away from this one. I was in attendance and witnessed that pretty amazing offense first hand when Missouri put up 52 on Illinois a couple of weeks ago. Now i realize that the Illinois defense is nothing to write home about, but that offense looked extremely impressive. Now some may think the Missouri defense is a little suspect after that Illini, however, i feel the Illinois "O" is legit and the Mizzou defense might not be that bad. They came up big when they had to in that game and i could see them being able to shut down Buffalo. 34 or 35 points is alot though, so you never know! I just wouldnt bet against Missouri right now.
Here's a quote from Pinkel on the subject.....
On differentiating between running the score up and getting in gameday practice:
"There’s a fine line there. And I just don’t want to humiliate people. The score was out of hand pretty quick, certainly into the third quarter. But you also need to get work. We got Chase Patton in and tried to throw the football with him. And we got Blaine in, and we need to get those things done. There are a lot of things that come into effect. I did not want to score when we kicked that field goal down there. And I also didn’t want to take a knee. And I also didn’t want to get a first down, so we kicked a field goal. And then Jeff (Gettys) intercepted that pass, which I didn’t want him to do, but I did want him to do. It’s difficult. But trust me this probably won’t ever happen again in my career. We’re just pretty explosive and for some reason we have a lot of big plays."
Great posts guys...thanks!
I'll say one thing, I really enjoy watching this Mizzou team play :D
