Default The Doc Gooden Hall of Fame list

Let me explain the meaning behind this thread. When Doc came on the scene everyone figured he was the next Bob Gibson and that he would go on to have a hall of fame career. While his career wasn't a bust like Brien Taylor for example Gooden never did live up to his potential but ended up having a good career.

Examples off the top of my head

Shawn Green - Some good/great years, Ted Williams like swing. Never did live up to the contact he got in LA. Kind just faded out towards the end.

Bo Jackson - Sadly Bo also came to know hip surgery

Mark Whiten - Only tool he was missing was between his ears.

Steve Avery - He got his World Series ring but never could match his early success.

If anyone can think of other players to add you know what to do.

Avery's was due to Injury as well... he started having Shoulder trouble one year around the AS break and pitched thru it the rest of the season and ended up having a torn rotator cuff. He was never the same after that.... it was near the 95 season when it happened.

Back then the ATL rotation was so competitive and None of them ever missed a start and you didn't want to be the one who did.
