A 71-year-old man has been taken to a Cedar Rapids hospital after police say he castrated himself with a razor blade.


Cedar Rapids police say emergency responders went to a house Monday morning after the man called police dispatchers to report the incident himself.


Police say he told dispatchers he did it for religious reasons


The man was taken to St. Luke's Hospital. His name hasn't been released.
