That's the thing, how are they gon' enforce this? Take phones before the game? People won't stand for that. That's ridiculous. It's not like phones take great pictures anyway. What's the difference with me taking my camera, they gon' ban those too?

I don't know how they're going to enforce this. And I'm not sure how the folks at the SEC think they're going to support it either, but they have banned fans from using Facebook and Twitter to talk about games while in attendance.
The St. Petersburg Times spells out some of the new guidelines that the SEC has set out for fans:
"But even more interesting is that the policy also includes rules for fans in the stands. No updating Twitter feeds. No taking photos with phones and posting them on Facebook or Flickr. No taking videos and putting them on YouTube."
Most fans won't care. But there are some fans who like to post pictures on their Facebook or Twitter pages. There are some who like to tell their friends and family about something they saw at the game, or just want to use their smart phones, for which they've paid hundreds of dollars.
No matter what your opinion is of people who use their cell phones during games, the fact is that the SEC is wrong to restrict people's activity at games, as long is it doesn't harm themselves or anyone around them.
The SEC's angle is that fans who leak information and details from the game are taking away from the TV coverage, for which the SEC has received $3 billion from CBS.
"A conference spokesman said this policy was meant to try to keep as many eyeballs as possible on ESPN and CBS — which are paying the SEC $3 billion for the broadcast rights to the conference's games over the next 15 years — and also on the SEC Digital Network — the conference's own entity that's scheduled to debut on SECSports.com later this month. "
Whether or not that's their concern, the real issue here is with freedom. In America, the land of the free and the home of the brave, the SEC is attempting to take away the freedom of their fans to communicate to others. There's nothing right about it, no matter how they try to spin it.
