Neb. teen faces sentencing for killing cat

LINCOLN (AP) -- A teenager faces sentencing in October for helping his buddy kill a cat.

Andrew Kratz, 17, of Eagle, pleaded no contest to the animal-cruelty charge in Lancaster County Juvenile Court.

His friend Jacob Weichel of rural Lincoln denied the allegation on Monday. He faces trial next month.

Weichel is accused of shooting the cat with a bow and arrow on March 13. The arrow went through the cat but didn't kill it. Kratz is accused of picking up the cat by its tail and slamming it against a picnic table, then dropping a log on it.

Authorities say a brother of one of the teens used his cell-phone camera to record the incident, which was seen by several students at Waverly High School.

So, What do U think the best punishment is for these Boys ? To me its simple !, No Jail.., Jail is not the way to help young people learn that their actions R not acceptable., Community Service is a way better tool, Now 20-100 hrs of service is just not going to be enough though, But if U would make the young person do 1-2 yrs of service w/ atleast 4-6 hrs a week and more during summer time we have a better chance to get the message through.., How bout it Doc.., Line them up and do what to them..?

Doc you need to grow up dude...its a cat... They should have gotten two cats ..tied their tales together and hung them over a clothes line and watched them fight if they wanted real action
