Used to pitch quarters at the wall at Recess in 4th grade...... Then in Middle School we would wager on the NCAA Tourney games in a pool and with each other at $5 a game![]()
I remember it like it was yesterday....was playing online poker and had a good day...took half of my poker winnings and bet the yankees who were like -185 against KC....This was a long time ago. Anyway...yanks won and I was hooked ever since![]()

Had a $5 bet SU on the Raiders/Steelers playoff game with a bowler in 1972. I was a scorekeeper back then. It was the immaculate reception game.
I was on the Raiders. Boy was I pissed!
Also cut class and pitched quarters around that time as well.
Bowled for money for a time being in tourneys in the 80's to early 90's and made frequent trips with my ex wife and in laws to Nevada around that time.
Actually didn't start sports betting a lot until around 1998 when playing parlay cards from work.
Been at it ever since!!!!
I worked at Guthries when I went to school in Athens. My manager there was also booking bets.....within a coupla weeks i was handing over my hard earned paycheck to him to cover my losses.![]()
Maybe an NCAA pool or two in high school, but didn't start betting on sports until my freshman year in college with a local. Haven't looked back.
I cant remember how old I was but it was parlay cards when I was less than 10. My father would have me and my older brother both fill one out a week. Id say I was about 6 or 7.
Does anyone regret getting started?
My grandfather was a merchant marine. So he would be gone sometime 8 months to a year at a time. But when he would come home he would teach me to play poker. Even though we played for pennies and dimes and a possible qtr we still traded the cash. I was around 8. I always remember having the cards ready the second he walked into the house. Good memories.
