Lingerie Bowl brand has unlimited potential
The Lingerie Bowl as it stands now is hardly without its flaws. There are many improvements that need to be made and will be made now that Bodog.com has entered into a 10 year contract to sponsor this event.
In only its third year, the Lingerie Bowl has already become a mainstay and one of Pay Per View's top draws.
There is however some question as to whether the Lingerie Bowl will remain on Pay Per View or quite possibly be shown on a premium cable network. The interest is certainly there and based on our talks with Bodog.com, the online entertainment company would hardly object to what could very well be an inevitability.
The event itself was widely touted - and in many cases panned - by media outlets all day Sunday. That is not a bad thing by any means.
Bodog.com has already stated they will begin working on next year's Lingerie Bowl event starting immediately. There will be many improvements.
A silly stunt pulled towards the end of the game where William "The Fridge" Perry ran onto the field and carried a Lingerie Bowl player into the end zone on his back for a touchdown cost Los Angeles the game. LA was a -130 favorite to win Lingerie Bowl III. The stunt may have also devalued The Lingerie Bowl product as well, taking it to Professional Wrestling standards.
Make no mistake about it, these girls play hard and they play to win. This is one thing that came across clearly throughout the game.
Our photographer, Flash Callahan, witnessed this firsthand while filming from the sidelines.
"These girls took some nasty hits, harder than what I see in regular NFL games," Callahan said. "They definitely took this game seriously and I couldn't help be impressed with their football skills."
Among the other improvements required for this phenomenal brand to continue growing, BoDog.com will want to focus on making the players more identifiable, improving the overall set up and increasing the overall production values.
Bodog.com only assumed sponsorship a little over 6 weeks prior to the actual event. In the little time they had to get things in order, Bodog did do an admirable job. If managed properly however - and there is little doubt that this new sponsor will ensure just that - the Lingerie Bowl concept simply cannot falter.
There has even been some discussion of expansion to six or more teams and the scheduling of a regular season.
