Newcomers Wigan are second in the English Premier League after one quarter of the season, while Chelsea have extended their 100% record. The bookies are trying to find new ways of making betting on the EPL more exciting.

Chelsea are now only on offer at 1.04 (1/25) to win the EPL, which looks certain barring some extraordinary change in fate.

Manchester United, who were thrashed 4-1 at Middlesborough, are out to 2.10 (11/10) in betting without Chelsea after bookies took a dim view of their worst Premiership defeat in six years. Arsenal, who drew 1-1 with north London rivals Spurs, are 2.50 (6/4) to finish second, while Tottenham are fourth favourites at 12.00 (11/1), just behind Liverpool at 11.00 (10/1). Wigan, who most people thought certain to be relegated at the start of the season, can be backed at 81.00 (80/1) to still be in second place at season's end.

Wigan are now as big as 13.00 (12/1) to be relegated. Bottom placed club Sunderland are only offered at 1.20 (1/5) to go down, followed by West Brom at 1.72 (8/11), Portsmouth at 2.20 (6/5) and Birmingham at 4.00 (3/1). Everton, who enjoyed a rare victory at the weekend, are now on offer at 4.50 (7/2).

Ruud van Nistlerooy is now the 2.50 (6/4) favourite to be top goalscorer in the EPL, ahead of injured Thierry Henry, who is on offer at 6.50 (11/2), the same price as Chelsea's Frank Lampard. The Blues Didier Drogba is on offer at 8.00 (7/1).
