    Default UFC 70

This Saturday from Manchester, England. I was 8 and 1 with predictions for 69. My only fault was Matt Serra's upset victory over GSP.

Here are my predictions for Saturday...

Mirko Cro Cop vs Gabriel Gonzaga - Cro Cop definitely has his hands full in this one. Gonzaga is no joke, world class BJJ, decent stand up and an excellent chin. If it goes to the ground Cro Cop will be in a lot of trouble and Gonzaga has driving takedowns. This is a huge fight for Gonzaga. If he comes out with a win over Mirko, he will be boosted into heavyweight top 10 and be next in line for a title shot. I call the upset. Gonzaga

David Heath vs Ryoto Machida - Tough fight. Machida

Micheal Bisping vs Sinosic - Bisping

Andre Arlovski vs Fabricio Werdum - Not an easy call. Werdum reminds me a lot of Brandon Vera. Good stand up and world class BJJ with strong heart. I still have to go with Arlovski. Too well rounded

Assuerio Silva vs Cheik Kongo - Kongo

Let me change my pick for Arlovski/Werdum. I looked into this fight after posting and noticed some of Werdum's prior fights. Lots of fighters with better standup than Arlovski and I see that as Andre's only advantage. He also brings a glass jaw to the octagon and after some reconsideration, I think Werdum takes this one. Possible KO or sub by round 2.

Either way the fight goes, its not a good play. Odds are even. All I know is that it should be the fight of the night.

Excellent high kick knockout for Gonzaga. Look out Couture. Only 3 bad picks in the last 3 events. Lost the Werdum pick this week in a completely boring decision.

At least Cro Cop played it smart, got a big pay check before getting buried.

I don't know what was worse, the kick to the skull, or the way his leg buckled underneath him as he went down. Gonzaga is a bad mutha.

Here iks an interview with Cro Cop after getting KTFO

Q: Do you feel any health consequences from Manchester episode?
A: I don't have headaches, nor any visible consequences from Gonzaga's high-kick. If it weren't for the pain in the right ankle, I'd already be training. However, I have to passively rest for two weeks. The ankle is swollen, but I don't think anything is broken, otherwise I wouldn't be able to walk. Still, I'll go to see a doctor one of these days and have it scanned."

Q: You seemed absent in the cage?
A: I wasn't myself against Gonzaga. I just couldn't decide to begin an exchange of punches, to go forward. Something similar happened to me in my last fight vs. Sanchez, but I still won that fight. These things happen to me in cycles. First I learn a lesson in the ring, then I go wild and win in streaks. However, there are no alibies for this defeat, and I am not looking for any.

    Q: What determined the outcome?
A: Gonzaga's elbows to my temple. When I got up, my vision was blurry and I didn't even see that right high-kick.

Q: Did you make any mistakes in the preparation for the fight?
A: The preparations were great and are not the problem. Right before the fight I was apathetic, no good, couldn't focus and I fought without any strategy.

Q: What will your future in the UFC look like?
A: I will definitely come back stronger. It's out of place to talk about the belt, but I will respect the contract. Of course, provided there are no new injuries. However, I don't know what could make me fight more after I work off the remaining 4 fights.

Q: When can we expect you back in the ring?
A: I believe I'll fight again in the UFC at the end of August or beginning of September. I expect to get a chance to rematch Gonzaga. Thanks to everyone who came to Manchester for me, and all who called me wishing me good luck. I got more than 200 calls and I couldn't answer everyone.

contract has 4 more fights...what if he loses again, would they let the contract go?

Win or lose, the contract will stay. He will just fight undercard bouts or nobodies. I doubt they will let him lose twice in a row - too much invested in him. They will give him a few gimmes and his fifth fight will be a good test.
