    Default Fantasy Baseball Help..

i did well for my 1st year in fantasy baseball. Going into a keeper league with no keepers is tough to do. i managed to take 5th or 6th (outta 12), last day is tomorrow. I can keep 8 guys, looking for some input.

    (12-team Rot. League)

    C
C Santana (prospect for cleveland, i dropped salty last week if this guy can win the job in spring training). Catchers are very hard to come by.

    R Doumit pitt

    1B
    G Jones Pitt
    N Johnson Fla
    J Smoak (M) Texas Minors

    2B
    A Hill tor
    B Roberts Bal

    3B
    M Teahen KC
    M Prado Atl

    SS
    A Escobar Milw
    D Jeter NYY

    OF
    C Beltran NYM
    F Gutierrez Sea
    J Werth Phi
    J Damon NYY
    M Cabrera NYY

    DH
    R Davis Oak

P- I blew everyone away with this rotation, won 5 of 7 catagories

    C Buchholz Bos
    E Jackson Det
    F Hernandez Sea
    F An. Garcia Chx
    J Marquis Col
    J Saunders LAA
    J De La Rosa Col
    K Correia SD
    K Millwood Tex
    R Halladay Tor
    S Strasburg (M) Wash

Id say these are my top 12, i have to cut 4...who goes?

    R Doumit pitt
    G Jones Pitt

    B Roberts Bal
    D Jeter NYY
    C Beltran NYM

I would cut Halladay, fernandez, buchholz and werth. Only because I am joing the league next year as a rookie with no keepers.

Definitely Doumit and Buchholz in my opinion.

My leans on the other two are

Beltran - Way too old now and injury risk

    and

    A. Hill - Not sold on this guy yet. Feel like he may be a one hit wonder. I mean i wouldnt be surprised if the guy is juicing and getting away with it somehow. He almost did a Brady Anderson type jump in Home runs this year.

    E. Jackson - Tough call but he would be next to go in my opinion, but i think he has better upside than the two above and Tigers should contend next year.

However, I find that in keeper leagues its always usually better to keep your position players and build a rotation through the draft. Esp in a league where you keep 8 guys which i think is a little crazy. However tough to let Halladay or Hernandez walk and Strasburg is a no brainer keeper, so id probably drop Doumit, Hill, Jackson, and Buchholz.

thanks for the feedback, doumit will prob get the boot. however no way do i drop buchholz. he was a rookie this year and won 9 of his last 10 outings!!
in 16 starts he gave up 3 runs or less in 12 starts, thats ridiculous. And playing for the sox, run support wont be an issue.

i agree with ur hill and beltran thoughts tho, thanks for commenting V22

No problem buddy..I hear you on Buchholz, he could turn out to be a stud and wins will definitely be plentiful. However, I think he was a rookie last year and boasted a 2-9 rec with a 6.75 ERA. While its great to see him rebound nicely, he did get roughed up a little bit in his last couple of outings this year. Lets hope he is not reverting to old form. It will be interesting to see how he handles things under the big spotlight in the playoffs this year. He is young and it can def payoff to take a gamble on a young guy in a keeper league. Whatever you decide..good luck to you.

I Keep Millwood over Bucholz... You know Millwood is going to pitch damn near 300 Innings and win 15 games and the rangers will be better Next year.... Most overlook Millwood but he is a horse and has good fantasy stats.... I would consider Buch over Jackson... I can see Detroit dismantling some in the offseason and you was so up and down... EJ has the potential to be out standing but I don't see how you can keep him....
