Fiesty Filly
Steve Asmussen's Rated Fiesty returns to the sophomore ranks in Saturday's 7-furlong, Grade II $300,000 Lexus Raven Run at Keeneland. A promising juvenile filly, that posted a 102 Beyer in beating the boys in the Kentucky Breeders' Cup on Kentucky Derby day 2007, Rated Fiesty is still seeking her first official win this year. She was disqualified in the Dixie Belle in her 2008 debut and, last time, was edged at the wire by Vote Early in the Weekend Delight Stakes at Turfway Park on Sept. 20.

Seven races for New York-breds, including the $100,000 Sleepy Hollow for two-year-olds (captured in 2002 by future Kentucky Derby winner Funny Cide), highlight a good card at Belmont Park on Saturday. A gelded son of Wheaton, who in turn was a son of Alydar, Russell Road has won his last two starts by a combined margin of 24 ½ lengths.
Guadalcanal Back in Stakes Company
Guadalcanal makes his second start in graded company at Keeneland on Saturday when he faces 10 other lawn lovers in the Grade III Sycamore at 1½ miles. The three-year-old son of Graeme Hall is hoping to improve on his last stakes foray, when he finished seventh, beaten by nearly 25 lengths, in the Belmont Stakes this past June.
Who Do You Think You Are?
"Mr. Big Stuff," the 1971 R&B smash by Jean King, contains the oft-repeated phrase "who do you think you are?" Fans of Mister Big, the defending Dan Patch Award winner as best older male pacer, know the answer. Simply put, the five-year-old is among the best standardbreds the sport of harness racing has ever seen. Already a 10-time winner this year, Mister Big will attempt to add to his growing legend when he tackles seven rivals in the final of the Bobby Quillen Memorial Pace at Harrington Raceway on Monday. Set to oppose the likely favorite are (in post position order): Booze Cruzin, Western Ace, Kenneth J, Took Hanover, Maltese Artist, Won The West and Palone Ranger.
Judge Joe Tops Valley Victory
Judge Joe, a New York-bred son of Credit Winner that has finished first or second in all nine of his lifetime starts, is set to do battle against 10 other juvenile trotters when he goes postward in the first of two Valley Victory elimination races at Woodbine on Saturday. The top five finishers in each elimination will advance to the final scheduled for Oct. 25.
Friday Night Lights
Friday night at Woodbine, a total of 15 juvenile fillies will take part in two qualifying heats for the $504,453 Three Diamonds Stakes to be contested on Saturday, Oct. 25. Among the favorites are Twist N Clout, Hawaiian Drink, West Of L A and Ginger And Fred.
