QEII Draws Ariege and Backseat Rhythm
Another big race scheduled at Keeneland on Saturday is the Grade I Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup for three-year-old fillies. Included in this year's field are Santa Anita Oaks winner Ariege, Del Mar Oaks victress Magical Fantasy and Garden City goddess Backseat Rhythm.

Ready's Image Looks to Rebound in Perryville
Trainer Todd Pletcher undoubtedly hopes a change of scenery will help his onetime Kentucky Derby hopeful Ready's Image bounce back from two consecutive double-digit losses in the Dwyer and Woody Stephens. Entered in the Grade III Perryville at Keeneland on Saturday, Ready's Image will be making his first start away from Belmont Park since he was second in the Grade I Hopeful at Saratoga as a two-year-old. The son of More than Ready is listed as the 4-1 third choice on the morning line.

Harold C. Ramser at Oak Tree
Sandy Blue Handicap winner Sweeter Still is among those entered in Saturday's Grade III Harold C. Ramser Sr. Handicap at Santa Anita. Others include Tasha's Miracle, Solar Miss, Dawn Before Dawn, Porto Marmay, Set of Wings, Miss Singhsix and Gorgeous Goose.

Criminologist Tops Athenia at Belmont
Five-year-old Criminologist tops a field of seven slated to compete in the Grade III Athenia Handicap at Belmont Park on Saturday. Set to oppose the race heighweight and likely favorite are Oh Deanne O, Criticism, Waquoit's Love, Classic Neel, Sunshine for Life, Marie Rossa and Social Queen.

Cliff Hanger Carded at Meadowlands
Veteran turf star Ballast and Bob Harding Stakes winner Fagedaboudit Sal head a field of 9-11 scheduled to compete in the Grade III Cliff Hanger Stakes at Meadowlands on Friday night. Also entered are Wheels at Noon, Icy Atlantic, Victory Alleged, Ballonenostrikes, Nergal, Kiss the Kid, Baron Von Tap, Shopton Lane and Arcata. (The latter two will only compete if the race comes off the turf).

Mister Big in Quillen Memorial
After defending his title in the Allerage Farm Stakes at The Red Mile on Saturday, harness racing's richest active pacer, Mister Big, will be among seven millionaires entered in the Bobby Quillen Memorial Pace eliminations at Harrington Raceway on Monday. Other entrants include Took Hanover, Maltese Artist, Special Report, Palone Ranger, Booze Cruzin, Western Ace, Won The West, Cinderella Guy and Kenneth J L. The final is scheduled for Oct. 20.

Second Tier, First Class
How good is New York Sires Stakes champ Artimittateslife? So good that the three-year-old filly has been made the 6-5 morning line choice in Saturday's $122,500 Courageous Lady Pace at Northfield Park despite being positioned in the second tier, stuck behind eight other starters. Artimittateslife comes into the Courageous Lady having won nine of 14 starts and $479,139 in 2008. She won the $175,000 New York Sires Stakes final at Yonkers Raceway on Sept. 13 and, most recently, captured a leg of the Trillium at Mohawk Racetrack.

James Dancer Memoria
Pacers Bullville Powerful and Rudy Rednose are favored in separate divisions of the James B. Dancer Memorial at Freehold Raceway on Saturday. Trained by Stephen Crevani, Bullville Powerful has finished first or second in 18 of his 21 starts and banked $510,417 this year. Rudy Rednose has earned less than half that amount, but apparently has a very shiny nose and would likely benefit if fog were to roll into the New Jersey area by post time.
