Golf Betting – British Open Picks

With the baseball season taking a break from action and focusing on midsummer All-Star festivities, we can put all of our sports betting attention on the upcoming British Open.

The British Open odds have Tiger Woods as a favorite and no one else is even close on the chart. Outside of Woods, no one else is inside of 30-to-1. While the public will be hammering Woods all week long, the sharp golf betting handicappers will be looking for value elsewhere.

Sergio Garcia +3050

Sergio Garcia is probably going to win a major at some point. Either that, or everyone will keep saying that until he’s ready to retire.

Turnberry has some flat greens, which should help out Garcia’s flimsy putter. Putting should be as important as making some crazy shots, and we know that Garcia is good at that.

Rory McIlroy +3050

Rory McIlroy is supposed to be the next big thing – or at least one of them, Anthony Kim is in the mix – and what better breakout opportunity than at Turnberry?

Padraig Harrington +3050

Padraig Harrington is going to be a popular pick this week but at this point, you have to wonder if he is even worth your money.

Harrington has been absolutely horrendous on the Tour this year and even though he’s won back-to-back British Opens, he’s not confident right now. Harrington has missed the cut in four of his last five tournaments and has been cut a total of six times this year.

Outside of a tie for eleventh at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, he has placed better than 24th. And in the two Majors so far this season, he’s placed 35th (Masters) and was cut at the U.S. Open.

Martin Kaymer +3250

Cosmo Kaymer might be worth a look this week as Europeans usually do well at The Open. Kaymer is a sexy pick right now because of how he’s played recently on the European Tour, winning the Scottish Open last week.

He’s the hottest golfer in Europe right now so if that confidence carries over, he’ll have a good chance to pay off on some of those sports predictions.

Lucas Glover +8050

It’s pretty clear that Lucas Glover isn’t a good pick according to the odds and really, the only thing he has going for him is that he won the US Open. I’m betting management wouldn’t mind him winning so it makes a storyline but other than that, his chances aren’t great.
