Against the backdrop of this week’s eMetrics conference, Google has announced a pair of advanced features that are coming soon to Google Analytics. And they’re specifically warning that these are for advanced users.
The first, Pivoting and Secondary Dimensions, is described this way:“You can use these new power features to do in-depth, on-the-fly analysis and see all the information in the same table. View data by two dimensions at once, such as keywords and cities. Next, pivot by another dimension such as source, while also viewing two additional metrics such as visits and pages/visit…. all within a single table view.”If reading that gives you a slight headache, there’s an explanatory video on Google’s blog post.
The second new feature, Share Custom Reports and Advanced Segment Customizations, sounds very cool. Users can share the framework of their custom reports and segmenting so that other users can apply that framework to their own Google Analytics data. Here’s Google’s explanation:“Think you have the ultimate custom SEO report? Post the URL for the report to your blog or email it to a friend. When people click on it, they import the report structure, so rather than seeing your data, they see the report you built, but with their data in it.”These features are in beta now, and Google says they’ll be rolling out in the coming weeks.
