Week 4 NCAA Hoops Action

Had an awful wk 3. Great monday and no profit the rest of the week. A ton of very close losers, but .... ha ha. Had it all written down but cant find the tally this morning. I know Im at .500 for the season.

Looks like slim pickins for Monday. I was leaning E.Mich but I like St Joes a lot and since Im at a dead lock .500 for the year, Ill try to be more selective and disciplined as the smoke settles from all these early first impressions and teams coming off of multi game tourneys, Holidays and such. Still sort of a preseason atmosphere in my opinion and a lot of nuetral court results can sort of fog how teams actually will perform at home and away. Guess Im saying Im gonnna tread cautiously for a bit.

Monday action:

519 - St. Joes +1 @ Rider (1.1 to win 1 unit)

Got this last night and no ML available or I wouldve played them to win. Line lks to be jumpin back and forth with Joes being a 1 pt fav earlier this morning. Saw it go to pick also. I think St. Joes should win outright.

I do feel the Duquesne play was very good even if it lost and Im very pleased with my outright +10 Sac St. play. Ill also take 2 out of 4 correlated side/total parlays any day.

I shouldve waited on Akron. Couldve got 12.5 and won. Thats my luck lately. Even when its a good day, things just dont work out as well as they could have. I generally take an acceptable number asap unless its totally obvious the line will move in my favor. Im usually wrong when I try to predict line moves.

2-0-1 (+2.0 units) for Friday. Need a solid weekend to have a profitable week.

Saturday action:

730 - Detroit -3 vs Cleveland St.

You gotta play defense to win on the road. Unless you get lucky. Its my opinion Detroit is playing better ball these days and Cleveland St. is lacking in the fundamentals to win a road game against a decent opponant. Small number to cover at home for an improving team with upside.

762 - Gonazaga -6 vs Wake Forest

Six points is what I give Gonzaga for home court advantage. The coaching alone makes Gonzaga the better team. However, I dont think its a far reach to say the players are better also.

794 - Utah St. -4 (-120) vs Saint Marys

Not really down on St Marys but Utah St. at home is not chopped liver. I think one could argue they are the better team. Hell, theyre a force on the road as well. Ill take Utah St. to cover a small number on this home court any time I can get away with it. It just seemed sloppy to leave that half point hanging on this 4 so I bought the hook hoping I wont need it.

Dont mind laying a little chalk when the seemingly better team is laying what amounts to (or less than) a home court advantage.

2-3 for Saturday. (-1.3 unit) Having a hard time understanding how Utah St. and Gonzaga both lose outright at home on the same card. Shit aint right. Guess I better start giving Wake and St Marys a lot of respect from now on. Tough road wins indeed.
