    Default WSOP/ WPT Question...

Anyone ever played in an actual WSOP or WPT event, not an online qualifier?

I used to play ALOT of blackjack, before I got married (dumb) I made alot of money on that & the sports.

Ever since Micelli turned me on to online Poker I have taken many beatings but have read everything I can find & now spend the majority of my time playing online.

Some things I notice is that I do not feel, except maybe in the $50 & up sng's, the online tourneys are too sporadic, idiots betting anything, i've had morons go all in against me & I have a Royal Flush & they have nothing & the board isn't paired...last night a guy went all in on me with 52 after the flop came A T 9 & i'm holding pocket Aces....go figure.

As a result I think its hard to get a real solid read on how you would fare in a live big time event. I think my play is very solid & think I would fare very well. Playing in the casinos is nothing new, back in my blackjack days I was zoned in counting a 6 or 8 deck shoe so I have the focus & observation. Not saying I'd win the big one right off the bat, but considering shelling out a few dimes & hitting one of the tourneys this summer.

In the online tourneys, sporadic as they are, I'm finishing in the money, not winning every one, but finishing in the top 3-5 almost everytime.

In the cash games I feel I'm doing better, on the basis of an hourly average, I'm making a hundred per hour at the medium limit tables, had been concentrating on the tourney side so haven't jumped into too many high limit games yet... work schedule being what it is.

Just wondering if any of you have played in one of the big events, how you did, what you learned etc...

Having only been playing a few months...where should I concentrate my efforts...cash games only, tourneys only...??????

Are my results typical, average, great or am I wasting my time....

    ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????

    thanks for any feedback.

you may want to take a few trips to AC and get in some casino tournys b4 you go after the WPT and WSOP. You have no way of knowing how your body is going to react to stressful situations...ie, your hand shaking nonstop when you have a good hand...that kinda stuff that you may not be aware of.

Micelli and I play mostly at the Trop, 100+25 $5000 chips Saturday at 10:15AM

all poker rooms should have their schedules on the web.

Also I you are planning on going down on a weekend or other busy time, get the poker room # and call ahead to reserve a seat in a game. This can save you 30-45 minutes sometimes longer instead of waiting for a table

    Thanks notter.

I'm sure it varies, but on the $100 tourneys you mentioned, whats the ballpark # of entries; duration of event ; places & amounts paid etc...

    Thanks again.

Maybe after I hit a South Beach trip in June I could hit AC in July for my birthday & we could all hit a game & hit the town.

    Thanks for the link.

I believe Notter is mistaken...you can not reserve a seat in advance at the trop. I've tried plenty of times...unless they recently changed thier policy.

Let me know in advance if you ever head down

100+ people on the weekends. If you get the 100 players it has the guaranteed $10,000 prize, which is nice.

The whole event should take around 5-7 hours...depending on how long you last.

Usually the top 8-10 are paid out....depends on total entrees
